Will the PORSCHE 911 SC ever be cheapish again?

Probably when the classic car bubble bursts, and everything classic drops to half of its current worth or less.

Fuck no, they’re not going anywhere but up.

A 911 has been my dream car for the longest time, but they’re rapidly getting out of reach.

Is that yours? And the green is for a polizei livery right?

They are no longer cars but commodities like pork bellies and chocolate.

Not going to happen. It’s like saying you wait for the art bubble to burst before buying... Luxury items don’t know about economical difficulties and art, just like collectible cars have never heard of this.

Especially with how cars are becomming less and less involving driving-wise, classics will get more and more expensive all the way until cars are forgotten about and roads won’t exists anymore...

You are probably right, hadn’t thought about it that way.

Yes, it is being restored for me... I don’t legally own it yet though. The reason the bonnet is green is because the one that was on it was rusted out. The green is the Polizei green, but it is pure luck as we got it as a replacement part.

Here it iwas before restoration:

Kinja'd!!!

The whole body was swapped due to a small crash that warped it (not visible in this picture). It was left pretty much abandonned. 75000km on the clock.

Nice, hope it won’t take too long to get it finished! Oppo needs more 911.

Oppo doesn’t. I DO!!!! :)

Planning on getting a LSD on it too, to keep the car safe and fun... 2000$ for it. Fuck. That’s what can get annoying with Porsches :)

Restoration might be slow though. I won’t complain.... Let’s say I’m getting an unbeatable deal on it.

I have always wanted a 911, especially since the old Need for Speed games and the original Bad Boys when Will Smith played chase with that Cobra in his 911.

The problem is now I actually have to become somewhat successful to own one when I could have been homeless and still afforded one before the bubble.

Noope. I’m pretty sure this is the last affordable vintage Porsche.

Bubble will burst, just like muscle cars did. Most Porsches are too common (compard to Ferraris and Lamborghinis) to carry upward value forever. The low spec stuff will be hit the hardest, with plain vanilla 911s and 912s coming back down, but not to where they were before. Maybe 50%. The high end (turbos and RS’s, etc) will get hit but not as badly. They’ll never be affordable again, assuming the muscle car trend is followed. Your average 396 Chevelle SS, 383 RoadRunner, 289/390 Mustang is relatively affordable. Anything with a 454 LS5/6/427, 440-6/426 Hemi, 428SCJ/427/429 Hemi is more an investment and/or status symbol.

My dad has a 78 SC, got it the same year I was born. I have a 240Z, prices on good unmolested Zs are climbing too, but they make some good parts and spares/maintenance is cheaper than a 911.

That’s the opposite of a “commodity car”. Commodity cars are new vehicles which every dealership owns for the same amount. It is at the dealers discretion to charge less or more, because the value of each individual unit is inherently the same to all dealers.

Though high it isn’t like they went all crazy 308/dino/2000gt/73rs that doubled in 5 years.

a big chunk is inflation. people going “this was 20k 10 years ago” and if you go by inflation it would be 28. when the markets crashed, values staggered as a bunch of toys were dropped on the market.

part of the rise is also due to the foreign market demand increasing.

As new 911s increase the value will go up as well.
